Re: MFT and MFT Mirror Are Bad Failed to Repair Them
I fixed them! I had tried a full format on both drives before, but this time I found the right keywords to find the answer on the Internet. All I had to do was change the policy on both drives from quick removal to better performance. When I did, the first time I formatted it failed, but I did it ...

MFT and MFT Mirror Are Bad Failed to Repair Them
Hello, I was having some errors with two thumb drives, and decided to run chkdsk. For the past few months, when trying to chkdsk them they would first report that the drives were raw, and abort. Then I would repeat the command and they would report they were NTFS (which is correct) and continue the ...

Re: MBR Code or Boot Sector?
Update: There has barely been any change in the number of files, but now the estimated time to completion is 65 hours. This, after running just TestDisk for almost 9 hours.

MBR Code or Boot Sector?
I am currently waiting for Photo Rec to finish copying the files from my 2 TB (ext4) backup drive to my new 2 TB drive. This does not look like it will end well as the original names and folder structure is gone. At least there are file extensions, but it has been running for almost 2 hours 30 ...

Re: Meaning of Error Message
Thank you. I am working against time it seems. My backup drive just stopped mounting all of a sudden. I cannot go for the whole partition as this is the largest drive I have (2 TB). Just before the accident it reported 1.5 TB used. For this drive I have to rescue the all instances of the Archives ...

Meaning of Error Message
If “No file found, filesystem may be damaged.” appears, is this a lost cause, or is there still a way to recover the partition or undelete the files? I have some disks in ext4 and others in ntfs. I am using a dual boot Windows 7 / Linux Mint system.

Re: New to TestDisk, Double Checking Results
In other words, my thinking was correct. The only partition that was marked Limbo was the ext4 partition (I made an error and put the tag on the wrong line). So there is nothing else to fix at this point. Thank you, Mr Grenier.

New to TestDisk, Double Checking Results
I am trying to fix a 2 TB external drive (connected to a different computer) that GParted reported has overlapping partitions that it could not fix. This drive is formatted for ext4 with an MS-DOS MBR. This drive, Limbo, has only one non-bootable partition. At least, it isn’t supposed to be bootable ...
