You should be able to resume the recovery if you restart PhotoRec.

The number of files recovered should increase before PhotoRec jumps back, so PhotoRec shouldn't be really stuck.
If there are bad sectors, it can be very time consuming, so it may be best to clone the disk before using PhotoRec. You can use ddrescue as described in https://www.cgsecurity.org ...

Hi, did you find any answer? I have a similar problem and I had to use PhotoRec which is not ideal for me.
