brief history...
i have a couple of WD Purple disks connected to a Synology unit via USB. these are not set up as raid. they are external to the Synology unit.
a video DVR ftp's security cam *.jpg's and *.dav's files to these drives.
i deleted some directories awhile back via commandline ...
