Is there a way to move between discs when recovering files?
I ran TD and found minimal damage to hdd's logical structure. My laptop root drive (500Gb ssd) is not large enough for the files (509Gb).

I finally did it. Less than half way through the copy, I recovered both partitions.
My problem was timidity. "...don't touch anything, you'll break it."
I read the 'Step by Step' tutorial more closely and took, what I considered as, a few chances.
