Unless your data were encrypted (ie. truecrypt), it probably means that the disk doesn't return the correct sector content. If possible, remove the disk from its enclose and...

Re: ran diskpart on a 4TB drive....

As "Big Bubba" is an empty partition, you should try Undelete and if it doesn't work, PhotoRec.

Re: EXT4 New OS installed - recover old partition

If TestDisk doesn't find your partition, you will have to sort the files recovered by PhotoRec.
See https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf for tips on how to sort jpg files.

Re: can I recover a overwritten windows 7 hard disk by kali linux

Try TestDisk, after Analyse and Quick Search, if you don't see your NTFS partition, choose Deeper Search.
Select the NTFS partition use 'p' to list the files.
If the files are ok, set this partition as P(rimary) or *(bootable), on next screen, choose Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.

Re: Harddisk seems to small and Fat boot sector

You can safely ignore the FAT12.
With the first 2 NTFS partitions, use 'p' to list the files. Do you see your old files ?

Re: incorrect size for 3TB disk in testdisk. In Windows it's OK.

Do you have an incorrect disk size when using the 7.0 version ?
Can you also try the linux version of TestDisk ? See https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf on how to create a Linux LiveUSB.
