I understand your point however the drives were mirrored - it may be some sort of RAID failure too - and the Data and work drives was ~650gb in size so there should be other partitions on that drive?

I have run chkdsk and windows recovery before even trying TestDisk - none of that works.

While the partition appears to be taking up most of the disc (it is a 1tb drive and the "partition" is about 930meg)) the partition should be/was three partitions previously as mentioned in the first post and ...

I would be very grateful if anyone could give me any pointers on this problem? My reading is that some of the partition info is available to TestDisk - is there a way to get this problem corrected or do I just go ahead and buy a new drive.
