YEP! It finished installing windows updates then booted right up! I wonder if the windows update had anything to do with the partition table/boot sector getting corrupted? I may never know!

I think i got it! After restoring the boot sector i ran chkdsk /f and it's viewable now! Now i'll try to boot from it

In that screenshot, my data is in the partition on the bottom. The one that is highlighted.

The partition with my data is the highlighted one in the second picture. I ran a deep search last night and checked it this morning. It seemed to find the same exact 2 partitions that are shown in the second picture.

Partition Recovery
I can see the partition i want to recover. I've successfully used TestDisk to recover files from it. This is my old laptop hdd that i placed into an external drive case hooked up via USB (if that matters). I will post screenshots in case someone can tell me what's going on. I appreciate any help ...
