Re: Restore MAC GUID Partition Map

The external HD with missing GUID partition is 2TB, and the internal HD is 1TB with a 801.97 GB boot drive partition, and 197 GB Bootcamp partition (unmounted). Restore MAC GUID Partition Map

Is there a way to recover the GUID partition that is missing from my external HFS+ formatted HD?
I've installed TestDisk with home brew.
When I unzip the file, testdisk-7.0.mac_intel.tar.bz2, and click on the testdisk file, I'm able to list disks,
but I don't know where to go from there.

Re: HFS Filesystem repair

I unmounted drive with Disk Utility. It showed an EFI System and a Mac HFS partition. I ran Analyse on EFI, then entered p to list ...

Re: HFS Filesystem repair

Yes, I have an Intel MacBook Pro 8,2, early 2011. I don't know what EFI-GPT is. What I'm trying to determine is if TestDisk can recover a drive directory after it is damaged. I'm looking for a way to recover a corrupted directory, as this seems to happen occasionally because I move an external drive...

Re: HFS Filesystem repair

Fiona, I ran TestDisk as Administrator and followed Step By Step instructions here - http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step I found my external drive in the log file and selected "Proceed". TestDisk highlighted [None] Non-partitioned media, so I selected [Mac] Apple Partition Map, then...
