So I have a promising start with another program, easeUS, so far it has identified Many of the folders that were there before the loss.
Files have proper names, and locations so far, so that is a plus.
I may still use photorec to strip every file I can, and then sort it by type, garbage collect ...

I tried the cmd interface without advanced settings.
there was good file info, but it stopped at 7343 files.
The GUI interface recovers all the files, but obtains absolutely no information on the files to include in naming.

I made a huge mistake.
When reloading windows 7, I deleted the 100 MB partition from my Segate 4TB (st4000dm000) hdd.
When I installed windows 7, it formatted it and put a partition of only 2 TB on it, and effectively wiping my HDD of all my stored files.
