Edit: I just checked the stickers on the drives again, and LBA matches, I was wrong. Only DCM doesn't match.

Hi guys,

I have a WD disk, with a broken head. So I ordered a spare, and replaced it. I've created a homemade tool to keep the heads from touching each other. I also replaced the PCB. Drive spins up normally again, without nasty clicks.

The drive failed to initialize in Windows, so I tried ...

Hmm... Maybe a stupid question, but if I just connect the external disk to a Mac? Would it function normally again?

I try EFI-GPT now, but Quick search is very slow.

I have a Windows PC but the disk is from a customer, who's a photographer, so maybe she uses a Mac.

I use Intel as partition table.

I didn't see the 'P' option to list files. I remember however TestDisk said 'Structure: OK' after the deeper search.

Tonight I will try Knoppix. The only thing I need is 1 short video.
