Used testDisk 7.0
I am not a software person so would have liked a tool than does not require a degree in Computer Science . Manged to do it by myself at end of the day

after lots of mucking about with diskpart and test disk I discovered a pagefile.sys file in the root. Deleted it and then windows would allow me to delete. Test disk was still confused and gave me file partition none . Problem sorted .

Conversion of Dynamic to basic Partition
The disk in question is a 2GB SAta disc with no operating system , my drive "D"
I need to convert the dynamic partition to basic for win 10, however testdisc detects it as having "none" partition. The drive works with no issues on my XP machine. I don't need to save dat aas I have backed it all up ...
