Please run Data Lifeguard Diagnostic from WD too:

For now, I've no idea about fixing the problem.
Before a diagnose would be important.
Please don't write anything to your disk.
It's intended as a diagnose only.

Re: WD Passport 500GB Not Detected on PC
RebuildBS takes a bit too long.
Read errors can cause that TestDisk hang.
I think you can stop it.
If CrystalDiskInfo doesn't work, you can consider to try an error scan using hd tune free.
http://www.hdtune.com/download.html
It displays bad blocks and sectors as red colored.

Re: WD Passport 500GB Not Detected on PC
Okay... I was able to see the drive but when I went to look at the files I got this:
"Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged." The only option on the bottom is to "quit" I hit quit and was able to get this far:
TestDisk 7.0, Data Recovery Utility, April 2015

Re: WD Passport 500GB Not Detected on PC
What partition table type did TestDisk autodetect?
In TestDisk under disk selection, did you select your disk as Disk, PhysicalDrive or Drive?
Did you use TestDisk 32bit or TestDisk 34bit?
Fiona
I chose Choose >Disk /dev/sdb - 500 GB / 465 GiB
