Hello!
After 20 days I have finally managed to make a 100% perfect clone image of a failing drive with ddrescue.
The image file is 3TB. If something goes wrong with the image file, I can't waste another 20 days to build again that image file from the failing drive.
Would you suggest me to make a ...

GPT drive 2 partitions
Hello, I have an external 3TB hard drive I want to clone with ddrescue.
This 3TB drive is formatted with NTFS, GPT. I did only 1 partition, but the GPT by default makes also a small hidden partition of 128Mbyte.
So in Linux with Parted Magic I see the small partition 128MB as dev/sdc1, and the large ...

Can I save scan progress??
Ok, so I have a 3TB drive, which takes a lot of time to scan.
For quick scan around 4days, and for deep scan, maybe around 10 days!
If for some reason I have to restart my computer, is there a way I can save the scan progress and resume from were I stopped??
For example, let's say I was quick ...

Bad jump in FAT partition
Hello!
At the moment I am analysing an NTFS drive, I am at 37%, and I have this message:
check_FAT: Bad jump in FAT partition
What that means? Should I worry?? I am 100% sure that my partition is NTFS.
Why do I get such message? Should I clone my drive or not?

External Hard Drives
For recovering lost partitions on external hard drives (3.5inch), is it important to recover with the external controller or is it irrelevant?
For example, if I have a 3TB external hard drive with USB2, recovering with the USB2 would be super slow.
So to get better speeds, it would be better to ...

Re: Disk /dev/sdd or Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive3 or Drive W: ???
So after 3 days, scan is still at 67%!!!
Is this normal?? Why is it soooo slow???? Could it be a mechanical failure?? I don't hear any weird noise (click of death).
Also on HD Sentinel, my hard drive shows up as 100% perfect.
Problematic or weak sectors were not found and there are no spin up or ...

Hello Christophie,
I decided to donate to you a small amount of money if you can help me with salvaging my data.
So I will try to explain everything in detail, and with your guidance I hope you will be able to help me out!

Disk /dev/sdd or Disk \\.\PhysicalDrive3 or Drive W: ???
Hello!
I am new here, using for the first time this amazing program called TestDisk.
I am asked by the program to select a media.
But I see the same disk (the 4GB disk) shown here 3 times.
So I am curious, what is the difference between the options
Disk /dev/sdd
