Re: Help recovering encrypted drive -- reward!

The partition starting at sector 318 must be MS Data, not EFI System.

Re: after format no files found on disk?

Is it an SSD with TRIM enabled ? If it's the case, it can explain why no files have been recovered.

Re: after format no files found on disk?

Run PhotoRec. In Options, enable the expert mode, start the recovery, when asked, choose a blocksize of 512, use the default values otherwise.
Please tell us if you recover your data this way.

If you have copied a file "dir1/file1", testdisk should create in the destination a subdirectory dir1 with the file file1 inside...

Re: Harddisk size too small, cannot recover partition

FAT16 is for media smaller than 2GB. Your disk is 1 TB, so it's very unlikely you had FAT16 filesystem.
As TestDisk didn't find your partition, try PhotoRec to recover your data.

Re: Seagate Expansion Desktop Board died, "Disk seems too small"

You are actually searching for partitions inside your partition E:, it's useless.
Try what is described in "Repairing filesystem" from https://www.cgsecurity.org/testdisk.pdf
Good luck

Re: Not Enough Free Space Available

When PhotoRec failed to write new data to the file, it deletes the file it was writing and ask for more space. If this file was 1.37TB, it explains why you have now 1.37TB of free space at this moment. To make it short, if you are recovering from a 4 TB HDD, you need a 4TB HDD to store the recovered...
