unable to mount DMG file recovered by TestDisk-7.1 Undelete feature

#1 Post by livein21st »

Hi,

I accidentally deleted my 15GB DMG file, which was password encrypted. (I still have this password)

I have recovered the dmg using TestDisk 7.1.

However, when I try to open the dmg file, it shows "foo.dmg, no mountable file system".

I tried to manually mount using

Code: Select all

hdiutil mount -nomount -readwrite foo.dmg
but no luck.

I tried to recover the same file many times but couldn't succeed. is there something I'm missing here?

Please let me know, as I have some important document saved in this file.

Thank you!

If the original dmg file was fragmented, PhotoRec may have not recovered the file correctly, it may explain why it can't be opened successfully.
I don't know if the file can be repaired or not, sorry.
