testdisk does not list all drvies in HDD MacOS

#1 Post by newbee »

Issue: When running testdisk in macOS Monterey, it does not list the internal hard drives.
Objective: I had a video file on the internal Hard drive that was deleted and mistakenly cleaned the trash, which I want to recover.
Configuration already done:
System Preferences –> Privacy & Security –> Full Disk Access –> Enable for Terminal

Note: I have installed testdisk application on a the same internal HDD that I am trying to recover the only deleted file from

testdisk output: (looks like this)
----------------------------------------------------------
TestDisk 7.1, Data Recovery Utility, July 2019

TestDisk is free software, and
comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY.

No harddisk found
You need to be root to use TestDisk.

Can someone please suggest on how to fix this issue to list out all the partitions of a HDD?

Hi recuperation,

Does testdisk does not read APFS system ?

The testdisk manual does not speak about unsupported formats - APFS.
Just wondering, are there any other solution ?
One of the responders in superuser asked to check with CGSecurity.com.

Thank you!
