Recover files from "DD" command in cygwin

#1 Post by wmmania »

Hi, all

I've just mistakenly erased my 2TB HDD files using "DD"(diskcopy in cygwin=emulated UNIX in Windows) command.
Namely,
(32GB CF card) ----> (2TB HDD)

So after that, my 2TB HDD turned to 32GB HDD.

The thing is the 32GB CF card was empty. So no files was written in 2TB HDD.

How can I recover 2TB HDD data?
If TESTDISK is not fit in this case, could you recommand some other programs?

I tried R-studio program to recover but only 2% of data can be recovered.
Thanx

If the partition table has been overwritten, the first step should be to use TestDisk to recreate the correct partition table.
If the partition table is ok or has been repaired, use TestDisk, Advanced, select the partition, Boot, BackupBS to repair the boot sector.
Use PhotoRec if some files are still missing.
