Where to start working?

#1 Post by Nonsmoker »

Hello I'm new here :-)

I moved a lot of Data from my external hd to the main hd and later installed the OS (Linux Mint) over it. Both disks use ext4 :|

Should I start working on the external hd or the main hd (or both)? Am I right that using photorec would be the best option in my case? Is it really necessary to create an image - the hd is fairly large (1TB)?

Any help is much appreciated. :-)

No need to create a disk image but when using photorec, be careful to not store new files on any of the 2 source disks.
Start to recover files from the disk where less data has been added by Mint installation.

Thank you. :)

In photorec, i'm being asked to select the Partition. I have just One Partition (almost the entire disc). Should I select this Partition or "whole disc"?
