Trying to get a .pages file back after emptying the trash (Mac)

#1 Post by willfriesen »

Just looking to get back one pages file that got deleted when I last emptied my trash without my realizing it on my Macbook. Really don't have much experience tinkering with things in my computer's terminal so would appreciate some help through the photorec/testdisk system so that I can actually find the file as I've not had much luck so far. Also just wondering if .pages files are even supported for recovery through this system? Would appreciate any help, don't want to pay $100 for disk drill or Stellar data to maybe get my document back

PhotoRec supports .pages recovery, they are part of the zip file family.
When using PhotoRec, be careful to store the recovered files on another partition than the source partition.
On Mac OSX, you need a lot of space as PhotoRec will both recover deleted and non-deleted files.
