Undelete .img from Synology NAS

#1 Post by TungstenE2 »

Hi all,

I deleted several .img image files from my Synology by using rm from Linux on mounted Synology drive.
Each file is about 32GB.

According to this overview .img should be supported: https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/File_Fo ... y_PhotoRec

In the scan options I do not find img file type, so just to restore this file type.

How best just to restore img type files?

thx

Is the deleted file still used by another process ?
Try TestDisk, Advanced, List. Try to locate the files. If the size is other than 0, copy it to another disk.
PhotoRec will not work for this kind of files, they are too large and usually fragmented.

thx, will give it a try. but how to select single file to be restored?

'TestDisk, Advanced, List.'

I only have option 'TestDisk, Advanced, ImageCreation' no List option.

Superblock and Undelete are missing from the options....

You should select the device /dev/md0 (or md1, md2). Linux Raid devices are only available under Linux.
