Testdisk, Macbook : no harddisk found

Hello everyone,

I recently deleted all of my school files from the past 2 years. I've read online to find a way to recover these files and my research brought me here. I use a MacBook Air 2017 with Catalina. The files lost were in an external drive. I installed Testdisk via HomeBrew because I had the error code "Bad CPU type in executable (see picture 1) when I was trying to open it straight from the folder (see picture 2). So, after the installation, I sent the command "sudo TestDisk", selected "create", but I had the error code "No harddisk found" (see picture 3). However, my disks are detected by my computer (see picture 4). I think it's a commun problem, right? Anyway, I would like to know how to fix it.

Also, I seen some answers on the forum saying that TestDisk needs to be run as "Root". Is it the same as "Administrator" or "Sudo" :oops:
