As I told you, I learn every time I stumble and get back up. Reading the files I sent you, I saw that I was running HDD Guardian Toolbox without administrator rights. I'm attaching them, running as administrator, in case they're of interest or if you need them to get some clues.
HDD Guardian Toolbox Smartctl scan like Admin.txt
(59.73 KiB) Downloaded 4150 times
HDD Guardian Toolbox USB scan like Admin.txt
(80.42 KiB) Downloaded 4186 times

Your disk is about to die. You have to choice to clone your disk using ddrescue as desribed in the manual or to consult a professional recovery lab.
According to the SMART parameters it seems that you played football with your disk

Unfortunately it took 12 posts to get to the information below although detailed instructions were provided to you already in my first posting.

Thank you recuperation for your time and interest.
Just one more question.
Can I clone the drive using ddrescue to a new SSD and thus save the information from the old one?
I understand cloning the HDD onto the SSD and trying to repair the SSD contents, leaving the HDD unmodified so I can start over if something goes wrong.
Or should I understand cloning, recovering the files from the HDD, and transferring them to the SSD?

I'll try to take notes about what happens with the information I want to save and the process I'll follow.

I appreciate your help and your work.

As you might not have a second change to clone your broken HDD, you should clone twice. Clone the dammaged HDD and then clone the physically healthy (but assumably logically dammaged) clone to another disk.
This way you can always reverse any failed operations that you try out on the "repair candidate".

Given your problems with distinguishing web links from picture links and the problems following my advice to run smartmontools (directly, not via any third party applications) the safest way is to clone your HDD into a file. In a second step you can clone that file directly upon another disk.

If you are a linux starter you should practice the process with a small disk.

First of all, thank you "recuperation" for addressing my problem.
I apologize for my "computer ignorance" in not properly understanding your instructions. I realize how basic my training is, and I asked for help without analyzing all the aspects of my problem. I've never been in a situation like this: thinking in a language, translating it without knowing the real meaning (what the reader understands) of the words used, receiving a reply, translating it into my language, and understanding it (matching the meaning of the person answering me). I think you should accept that translation and understanding are sometimes not the same thing.
I managed to recover the files using the Lazesoft Windows Data Recovery Free program from https://www.lazesoft.com/lazesoft-windo ... -free.html. This program offers to detect files and copy them to another disk. And without touching the contents of the corrupted HDD, it was able to back up all the files (there were 30,123 of them). After running CheckDisk and Defraggler, and analyzing the disk as I learned in this forum with HDD Guardian Toolbox and CrystalDiskInfo, I decided to give it a second chance.
Thank you for your time and interest in my problem. I will continue to work on this forum because I recognize that what is received with altruism should be made available to those in need.
