How come you said your SMART data is OK?
I tinted the relevant lines below.
Now you know why I was asking for a proof.
Oeps!!! Thanks for pointing it out.

I have stopped search and disconnected my drive for now. As I would like to recover my personal data on the drive I need to know what the best method is to duplicate the data. What tool should I use?

ddrescue.
Buy two drives.
Duplicate your faulty drive and duplicate the freshly copied one.
The reason for making a second duplicate using the first copy on a new healthy drive is the fact that your faulty drive might not survive the second duplication process or give as much information as it did before.

If you somehow abuse your duplicate you want to have a second duplicate to bring the abused duplicate back into the original state.
