Help with Recovering Partition after DiskPart mistake please.

#1 Post by npeter »

Hi,

I accidentally selected the wrong disk in DiskDrive to clean.

I cleaned and partitioned my 4TB external HDD by accident that had all the family photos in there... I know I should have a back up that was my fault.

I used DiskPart to run a clean and create partition primary on the disk before realising I selected the wrong disk to run those on.

I have used TestDisk but I have been unsuccessful in both writing the disk back and copying the files onto another disk.

I get the "Write Error" when trying to write the partition back. And my copies are all failing with 0 copies.

I would love some help please.

Have you been able to list your files using TestDisk ?
As the filesystem has been reformated, you probably won't be able to list your old files, in this case, use PhotoRec to recover your lost pictures.
Be careful to store the recovered files on another partition (or another disk) than the source.

Thank you for your help, I have been able to recover my files but unable to undo the partition and clean itself. Is there a way to do that?
