TestDisk seems unresponsive after hitting Proceed

#1 Post by raem »

I have a very old IDE drive. I was able to access it through a generic converter off Amazon, worked for the first two times, but it wouldn't get detected anymore, and my laptop crashed every time I connected it.
I jus bought a Ugreen converter and my laptop works fine when the drive is plugged, but it still doesn't show up. Thankfully, it did show up on Testdisk, but when I hit Proceed, nothing happens, and it's unresponsive to any other action (tried the same thing with another drive and it worked just fine).

Am I supposed to wait longer? What could be the reason for this?
I'm worried the drive is getting even more damaged the longer I leave it connected as it gets louder.

I don't know what a Ugreen converter is. Please make sure you make the size of your disk a secret!
A stable and powerful hardware setup is needed that does not rely on USB power.
