Hi

I was in the process of writing an image of the Xbian OS for the Raspberry Pi computer to a SD card, using Win32DiskImager, when I accidentally selected one of my storage hard drives instead.

The drive total is 2TB.
The drive used to consist of a single 2TB partition.
The image that was partially (i aborted it after some seconds) written to it consisted of 3 partitions (FAT16, ext3 and a linux swap partition) of around 1,5GB in total.

I have tried various freeware/shareware products, but they only offer functionality for copying the files to another hd. I want restore as much as possible of the original partition onto the same HD.

Does Testdisk have functionality for this scenario?

Run TestDisk, Analyse, QUick Search, Deeper Search. Your NTFS partition should be found at this stage using the NTFS backup boot sector. Using the arrow keys, switch this partition from D(eleted) to *(bootable). On next screen, choose Write, confirm, BackupBS, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.
