Basically, a laptop harddrive stopped booting. I took it out of the laptop out and hooked it up via a SATA to USB cable to my laptop and ran testdisk on it. I did a quick scan and wasn't sure if it found everything that I needed to recover, so I went ahead and did a Deeper scan on it.

From what I've read, it sounds like I need to mark the deleted partitions either Primary Bootable or just Primary. I notice there's already another partition marked as primary bootable, but I'm pretty sure that the partition listed underneath that one is the one that is usually booted from. Is it ok to mark that one as primary bootable even though a primary bootable partition is already listed?

What should I do about the other two deleted partitions? Would it hurt to mark those as Primary while I'm already here? I think I remember reading somewhere though that a drive can only support up to 4 primary partitions, so I'm not sure what to do. I understand that it's probably difficult to make a judgement based on the little bit of information I've given, but this isn't my harddrive and I don't have very much information to go off of.

Remembering my recent usage of testdisk where I also arrived at a similar point ..
I would suggest use up/down to navigate to try to enable each of the "D" partitions in turn

D HPFS - NTFS
D HPFS - NTFS
D FAT32 LBA

i.e. switch "D" to "P" or "L"
if the selected partition turns green then choose P: list files
and you should be able to copy any detected files into a target location
(make sure you have that space ready before starting).
Repeat for other partitions. Switch to green and then recover.
