3TB drive accidentally cleaned and formatted

#1 Post by fatcat »

Well, I was preparing a USB disk for windows 7 installation when in DISKPART I accidentally selected the wrong disk and cleaned out 3 terabytes of data off my external drive. Now, I am in Recuva and I am able to restore files, BUT, I only have access to 2048GB of 2700GB or something. I cannot get it to make a partition the full size and I am at the same time scared to start trying to stuff.

So my question is how would I go about changing the drive's partition so Recuva can recognize the other terabyte?

What I have done so far partition wise...
- Used clean command in DISKPART
- Formatted in DISKPART but stopped it almost immediatly
- Did a quick format on it... not sure why, it was a bad mistake

I don't know how I would go about this without potentially messing with anymore files... I have already lost all the filenames and their paths so I got to go through 3TB manually but I can manage it. Any help would be great to get me going in the right way.
