Display Details when searching MFT?

Is there any way to display details/progress when searching the MFT?
it says search MFT 586088398/976752000
it's been searching all day/night but does not display any results, has it found any files? any MFT?
or is it a waste of time to run this? I can't tell as it doesn't report
It takes a very long time, I sure hope it finds enough to rebuilt the partition
somehow both the boot sectors and the partition were destroyed but everything else was left alone.
