Able to restore after mkfs.ext3 on a fs which had ext3?

#1 Post by blurg »

Hello there, I hope someone can help me out with this, any advise is appreciated.

I accidentally did a mkfs.ext3 on a 2TB disk which already had a ext3 filesystem.

There was 2TB of data on it and I really have to get it back.

After starting up it suggested None as the partition type automatically. That's weird? It's just a Intel/PC partition type.
When I select Intel/PC it's unable to find anything with quick search. Then there was no option for deep search

The None type gives me nothing either with quick search. I can do a deep search again but it takes ages..

Am I able to get it back?

I heard when creating a filesystem with the same filesystem type it's impossible to restore?
