Hello,

I accidently dropped my WD external HDD. Now when I connect it to my Mac it gives me an error stating "the disk you inserted was not readable". I searched a few forums and downloaded TestDisk. Upon running the same I selected the Quick Search but I am getting the following screen. I am also attaching the log file.

The so called Quick Search is still going on and producing the following results in log file.

Any help in this regard would be highly appreciated.

It looks like, that each read attempt failed.
Even the first sector, your MBR is not readable.
You should make a diagnose, using the diagnosis tool of the manufacturer (WD).
Also consider, to remove your disk from the enclosure and test it?

As far as possible, don't stress your disk as much.

Thanks for the reply. I did download the WD Diag tools but of no help since it does not show the HDD at all.

I also downloaded CrystalDiskInfo but even that is failing to provide much info. I am attaching the screenshot from the tool here.
Please let me know
1. If you think I will be able to still recover my data ?
2. If MBR is not readable can I re-write it ?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

It looks like a hardware problem, you should contact a data recovery company...
