Everything Checks Out But Drive Cannot be Recovered

#1 Post by ajlchicago »

Hello:

Newbie user of this tool and first time posting to board....

Have a 320GB external hdd (Maxtor OneTouch) which is unreadable within windows (prompts to form drive once connected and disk manager reports file system as "raw"), however, testdisk is able to read the file system just fine and even recover/copy the files. Writing the partition, restoring the boot sector and MBR all complete successfully, but, the drive is still unreadable in windows. Testdisk screens below, any ideas?

Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

A

Run "cmd" (Right-click Run as Administrator) and type "chkdsk /f d:" (replace d: by the correct drive letter).
Does it fix the problem ?
