NTFS partition accidentally quick formatted to exFAT

#1 Post by hughesnick »

I was trying to recover files from an external drive NTFS partition to internal HDD when I accidentally QUICK formatted the external drive partition to exFAT instead of the internal HDD partition. I know the MFT is ok because Zero Assumption Recovery finds the file structures on the external drive partition, how can I use TestDisk to restore the file system type to NTFS from exFAT and recover the original MFT. I haven't written anything to the drive since the quick format. :?
