3TB HDD partial recovery with Testdisk

#1 Post by kirkm »

After changing some RAM and rebooting with boot drive inadvertently not connected, Windows had re-ordered the drive list. After fixing, XP booted fine but drives M: & J: were missing. These were two 1.5TB partitions on Western Digital WD30EFRX-68AX9N0.

In Disk Management M: showed as unformatted and J: as unallocated

TestDrive wonderfully restored M: but changed its size to 2 TB. I'm now trying to recover J: without success and wonder if some crucial part has gone, or been assigned to M:

I'm new to this and wondering what I might try next. Ay help much appreciated.
