GPT Partition rebuilt as MBR

#1 Post by blacktronics »

Hey guys,
Recently the S-ATA <-> USB controller of one of my External hard drives failed after only 6 months (4 TB Seagate Expansion Drive)
I took the drive out of the case and plugged it into an external dock, which recognized it as a RAW drive.

After a few searches on how to restore it I found TestDrive, which detected Intel MBR, so I went with that since I had no clue about that stuff and went on with the whole process, writing the partition table and rebuilding the boot sector.

After reconnecting the drive it showed 457 MB free of 1.99TB and started to investigate, finding that the drive should have been rebuilt with GPT instead of MBR.

I'm currently doing a deep scan, let's see what comes out of it.

The Hard drive was almost full, 3GB of 4TB left or something.
How to I get to the other half of the data?
