Accidentally set recovered partition as primary

I recovered a lost 3TB partition but accidentally set it as the primary bootable partition. When I tried to boot the computer, it didn't even make it to the motherboard manufacturer screen, it would just hang at a black screen with a white A2 in the bottom right hand corner. I couldn't even enter the BIOS to change the boot order; an "Entering Setup..." would show in the bottom left hand corner of the dark screen, but it would just hang there.
I had to unplug it from the SATA port in order to get the computer to boot.
So I'm wondering how I can fix this, given that I can't put it lower in the boot order since it won't show up in BIOS since it's unplugged, but I can't even enter the BIOS when it is plugged in.
Thanks for your help
