Raid 1 disks showing as Raw

#1 Post by Kasteris »

Hi There,

I have 2 x 2TB seagate disks that were setup in a raid mirror that are both in a raw format (not sure what caused this as the PC was fine one night and wouldnt boot the following day, maybe a power cut or something?) anyway the disks dont appear to have any physical faults it looks like someone how one of the disks screwed up and now it has mirrored this fault to the other disk :/

I have ran Testdisk-7.0 and when analysing the disk 2 NTFS partition are listed both the same 2tb size, if I then select continue only 1 partition is listed and this does not appear to contain any files. how can I access the 2nd ntfs partition that is listed initially?

I'm currently doing another analyse scan and will post up some screenshots with the results.

I'm guessing the partition that shows is invalid and i somehow need to restore the other one?

Any help appreciated :)

Cheers,
Kas

See attached screenshots the initial screen after analyse tells my that the below partitions cannot be recovered:
After Analyse
After Analyse
disk.JPG (72.38 KiB) Viewed 1716 times
after selecting continue one partition is displayed as below:
available partition to write
available partition to write
disk2.JPG (56.93 KiB) Viewed 1716 times
Files listed on the available partition as you can see its none :(
Files on partition
Files on partition
disk3.JPG (46.32 KiB) Viewed 1716 times
what would be the next step is there anyway to examine the partitions that cannot be recoeverd or should i look at some other software?

The above happens on both mirrored drives which leads me to think this isn't a physical fault, but i suppose there is a slim chance both drives failed with the same physical issue.
