Hey,

i've got a ext. hdd from a friend and try to ecover it. I was able to get a backup image with ddrescue and could extract files through PhotoRec but nevertheless i would like to recover the drive completely.

Gparted shows me a one partition and unallocated space at the end (~2,9MB). Gparted also gives me that warning:

Code: Select all

ntfs_mst_post_read_fixup_warn: magic: 0x44414142 size: 1024 usa_ofs: 235 usa_count: 65535: Das Argument ist ungültig
Record 0 has no FILE magic (0x44414142)
Failed to load $MFT: Eingabe-/Ausgabefehler
Failed to mount '/dev/sdb1': Eingabe-/Ausgabefehler
NTFS is inconsistent. Run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot it TWICE!
The usage of the /f parameter is very IMPORTANT! No modification was
made to NTFS by this software.

Testdisk Quicksearch shows me one partition, when I do a deeper search it shows me following:

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sdb - 120GB / 111GiB - CHS 14953 255 63

The harddisk (120 GB / 111 GiB) seems too small! (< 240 GB / 223 GiB)
..
> HPFS - NTFS 14592 254 63 29185 253 62 234436482
It seems that the partition starts at the end of the cycles? How do i fix that?

Thanks
