Help Needed to Recover My External Hard Drive

#1 Post by Mikry »

Hello! Recently I rebooted my computer while I had my external HDD (was both bootable and had regular data on it) plugged in and since then, Windows wants me to format the drive, and says that the file system is RAW instead of NTFS. It also says the size is 32MB, instead of 1TB.

I have tried following the step by step guide for using TestDisk, but I'm not having success and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing. If someone could guide me through what I must do I'd be very, very, very grateful. :)

I've added some screenshots that I think would be helpful.

Open the USB case, extract the HD and if possible, connect it directly via SATA.
Does it fix the problem ?

If it's not the case, use hdat2 or hdparm (Linux) to use a restore dco command.
