4tb mac partition table recovery problems

#1 Post by xjasonx »

i bought a wd black2 drive and the software inlcluded to initialize the 2nd partition of the black2 dual drive ended up going haywire and turned all the hd's attached to my mac into this weird EFI, SSD, HDD partition scheme that was poorly programmed in shell script (wish i could have read it first but it was a standalone file..)

so with that said it knocked out my 4tb drive to just 2 blank partitions one at ~120gb (ssd) and the other at ~1tb (hdd).

i haven't written anything to the drive or done anything destructive to it except try to recover random partitions that test disk is pulling up that may or may not be the right ones..

from what i recall and have done in the past it should be 1 large mac journaled partition created within disk utility and that auto makes that tiny efi partition too.

so i can't seem to find those examples in test disk so i did more internet searching and found http://perrohunter.com/repair-a-mac-os- ... ion-table/

however that doesn't seem to work for me either..

does anyone know how to manually rebuild a partition table based on my memory of the old one? i feel like its gotta be pretty easy since i left it as just one large partition initially!

thx!
