Recover data from NTFS disk

Hi All,

I did dd to my NTFS data disk, and lost all the data on it, here is in detail:
I was using the dd command to make a linux OS boot disk, but chose the wrong disk,

Code: Select all

dd if=some_OS.iso of=/dev/sdc
which /dev/sdc was my NTFS disk (only had one NTFS partition), after that all the data has gone.

After searching some webpages, I was told that testdisk seems to be the tool that can get my data back,
I executed testdisk on LinuxMint, it is said the testdisk detects partition table type to be None, could someone out there help me to move on and save my data?

Thanks very much!

Tong

Did you select a Drive instead of your affected disk?
Only a disk has a MBR and a partition table.
Can you repeat your diagnose running testdisk (7.1WIP and 32bit) and repeat your diagnose?
Can you copy and paste the content of your testdisk.log into your next post.
You'll find your testdisk.log within your testdisk folder.
