URGENT, Lost partition!!!

#1 Post by NoFear0411 »

Hello all,
I was installing windows 10, the setup gave me an error about partition 1 not being set as PRIMARY. So I opened up diskpart and did a clean command (I was not thinking don't hate me I wanted to remove LEGACY partition and recreate as PRIMARY) so I ended up with clean drive. I booted up TestDisk and found the 2 normal NTFS partitions but I cannot seem to find the bitlocker encrypted partition. After running Deep search I even found my old linux partitions and tons of stuff *check log file.
Please suggest me something that I should do in order to safely recover my encrypted partition.(very important stuff there that's why it's encrypted). The disk has not been formatted or have something written on it!
first and second partition from the log.

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sda - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 121601 255 63
NTFS at 0/32/33
filesystem size 327680000
sectors_per_cluster 8
mft_lcn 786432
mftmirr_lcn 2
clusters_per_mft_record -10
clusters_per_index_record 1
HPFS - NTFS 0 32 33 20397 67 22 327680000
NTFS, blocksize=4096, 167 GB / 156 GiB
NTFS at 20397/99/55
filesystem size 389117952
sectors_per_cluster 8
mft_lcn 786432
mftmirr_lcn 2
clusters_per_mft_record -10
clusters_per_index_record 1
HPFS - NTFS 20397 99 55 44618 220 18 389117952
NTFS, blocksize=4096, 199 GB / 185 GiB
the first one is empty since I deleted it but the second one is not that important but I can get it back. I don't want to risk writing to the disk not until I give up hope and low level that HDD. I will upload the full log once the full scan is complete.

TestDisk can't handle completely encrypted partitions, because ther are not standard like Intel or GPT anymore and probably will not find it?
Can you check the bitlocker repair tool?:

It would be helpful to determine exactly the start and size of your bitlocker partition.
If you'd recover your 2 NTFS-partitions, was the remaining space your bitlocker partition?
It's a good idea not to change, write nor modify something to your disk anymore and it's only intended as a diagnose only.
