Revert Mac OS X recovery agent recovery hd creation

#1 Post by danieltheslacker »

Unfortunately I missed one line in the doc about the Mac Recovery Agent tool - that is create a new partition of minimum 1GB - if its being used on an used external drive.

Is there a way to revert that?

After creating the recovery hd on my, already in use, external HD the original volume did not mount anymore.
Even with testdisk or description like this http://www.broes.nl/2008/01/restore-an- ... ition-map/ does not bring the old volume back. Though the data is still there. But its a lot of files mostly private images from many many year and I'd like to have the original file names/structure back.

The best I got was to have rewrite the partition map following this doc -http://www.broes.nl/2008/01/restore-an- ... ition-map/. This did mount a volume 'Recovery HD' (the standard name for that) with a capacity of 1T (the original size of that hard disk) but is shows a ~600Mb in use and ~150 Mb left. it just doesn't show all my old files only the data from the recovery HD.

Help pls.
