Accidentally did Quick Format ... HELP!

#1 Post by mcraftsage »

Ok, I accidentally did a 'Quick' format of my 1.5TB drive ... and I panicked, quickly clicking 'Cancel' ... which I don't know if that has worsen the situation! Now Windows keep asking me to format the disk, and it shows as RAW.

It is a data drive with no OS (I think).

I ran testdisk & I attached some screen shots.

(1) Disk was detected and I did 'Quick Search'. The partition showed up in green.

(2) I pressed 'P' and the next message says "Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged."

(3) So I went back to green screen and press 'Enter', followed by 'Write'. On reboot still can't access.

I would TRULY appreciate some guidance.

QUESTION : Do I do another 'Quick' format but let it complete this time? Will it worsen the situation?

Pls help. Thank you very much in advance.

sincerely,
zoe

You already have your partition in your partition table.
That's why writing it again into your partition table doesn't help.
In your case a complete quick format would override your file system, boot sector and cause an empty file system.
But your partition appears as RAW and means, file system or boot sector are damaged or not available.
Have another try to run TestDisk / Advanced, select your partition, confirm with Boot and run a RebuildBS.
When it's succesful, go to the menu List and have another try to list your files.
Please copy and paste the content of your testdisk.log into your next post.
You'll find it within your testdisk folder and you can open it using wordpad.
