USB key recovery after Rufus

I made a mistake and run Rufus (app to create bootable USB) on wrong USB key. I stopped it immediately, but it was too late. I tried testdisk, I even found lost partition with deep search, but no files are shown within.
However, photorec finds and restores many files, but they are all mixed up. It is better than nothing, but is there anything I could do to restore to original?
