How get data back from lost partitions on Synology NAS?

After a upgrade there was no access to either download station or audio station, etc.
Trying to reset password and system reset caused volume1 (RAID1) being lost.
But I did not perform a format!
To create a volume, both the drives needed to be formatted, which I obviously did not do.

In a topic on a Synology forum, I was advised to take one drive out and connect it physically to a Windows computer.
I did that and on the Windows 7 desktop in disk management I noticed that the connected disk had only 2 partitions,
and a large unpartitioned volume (which previously was the data partition)

To recover data, I already tried several programs, none of those did the trick though.

Then I started using SystemResueCD (booted from USB)
I read about TestDisk on "post19831.html#p19831"
So I ran TestDrive.
Running TestDrive, I viewed the log and found the following log being created:
