Would it be possible to repeat your diagnose at an intel PC.
It's a lot faster, because disk geometry is different.
In case we could make a normal diagnose also.

Ok, i'll try to find an Intel PC and I'll keep you informed.

Thank you for the tip

I relaunched the Rebuild BS on a PC but it's still as much slow. At this rate the command will end in 6 days.

Any clue to speed up the process?

Just have a normal diagnose using Analyse.
I'll need infos how your disk is listed, after Analyse from your current partition strucur, Quick Search (the result, if quick Search doesn't find something) after Deep Search also.
Hopefully it's successful and faster? ;)

Here is the result of Analyse:

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sdb - 1000 GB / 931 GiB - CHS 15200 255 63
Current partition structure:
Partition Start End Size in sectors

Invalid FAT boot sector
 1 P FAT32 LBA 0 32 33 121601 25 24 1953519616
 1 P FAT32 LBA 0 32 33 121601 25 24 1953519616
No partition is bootable
Quick Search will end in 1 hour :)

In your partition table (current partition structur) is a Win7 / Vista-partition.
Vista/Win7-partition are aligned on megabyte boundary.
Intel partition are aligned on cylinder boundary.
Invalid FAT boot sector indicates that your boot sector or file system is damaged.
The partition doesn't use the complete space.

I'd need the infos after quick search.

Well, the Quick search is not yet finished and I now have "Read error at XXX" at each sector.

It seems the HDD will end in a garbage

I just need to find a way to retrieve data...

Please check your smart values using Crystal Disk Info portable.
It doesn't need to be installed.
If you experience read errors or testdisk hangs, please let me know as soon as possible.
In case, stop testdisk Quick Search.
Please let me know the percentage of Quick Search.
After he change the HD enclosure the drive is no longer accessible so he asked me if I can recover his data but I'm stuck.
Can you connect it internally?

Re: Damaged 1To HD

Your harddisk doesn't look to be in a good shape.
Don't stress it as much anymore.
After he change the HD enclosure the drive is no longer accessible so he asked me if I can recover his data but I'm stuck.
Can you remove it from enclosure and connect it internally to have another check using crystal disk info.
In some cases, it solved issues.

If it doesn't make any difference, you can try to create an image file on another intact drive using testdisk / Advanced / Image Creation.
