2TB drive shows up as RAW after windows 10 upgrade

#1 Post by MortarWolf »

Long story short.
This drive I tried to recovered was on windows 7 and it was accelerated with intel rapid storage technology.
I then upgraded to windows 10 without undoing this.
Windows kept on crashing, so I went back windows 7.
Back to windows 7, the hard-drive suddenly shows up as unformatted/RAW.
I somehow went back to windows 10 again and ran testdisk. I ran quick scan and received this log file. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Run TestDisk, Analyse, Quick Search, use 'p' on each partition. If you see your files, choose Write, confirm, Quit and restart your computer.

If it doesn't work, use PhotoRec to recover your data. Note that it will not recover the original filenames.

Quick search gave me the error log that I've posted above. All the files shows up as a garbled mess. Are you saying that deeper search is a waste of my time?

Is there any other solutions than PhotoRec?

Well I did a deeper search and was able to find my lost partition.
What freaked me out was when I pressed Q and then enter, I somehow ended up in the "select drive" screen.
I thought I had to do the deep search again. After mucking about and choosing "backup BS", I was able to find the "Write" command. I wish the flow was a bit less nerve racking.
I any case, Deeper Search somehow lead me back to a functioning drive. :D
