Help me to treat my HDD.

#1 Post by GennyZ »

Hello everyone,

I have got a trouble with my computer. It has been working slowly sometimes (for 5-10 seconds). My friend said to me: "Jennifer, that most possible this - you have got a problem with your HDD". Another my known, during scanning with 'Victoria', has found out bad-blocks. Then, he has used Acronis and accidentally - one of partion was deleted. After, it was a try to recover it, but then, my OS (Linux Mint KDE 17.1) has been stopped working. When I was using bootable flash drive, 'KDE Partion Manager' tells about my HDD:'No valid partion table was found on this device.'.

I remember, that my HDD has approximately ;) such partions:
80GB - Windows
~8GB - ?
25GB - Linux root
~100GB - Linux home
~325GB
~450GB
and
4GB - Linux Swap

Then, I have read a manual and started work with 'TestDisk' and have restored many files from this HDD :D . (Great thanks to the author of this charming programm.)

Now, I am trying to recover my OS. Below, there are my moves and TestDisk's answeres:

(If I press 'P' - I see: 'Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged.')

I hoped to recover the partion table.

If now, I press 'Enter' on any partition, I see:
'No partition found or selected for recovery
>[ Quit ]
Return to main menu'
and I am wasting 2 hours on the 'Deeper Search'

Tell me, please, is there is any possibility to restore normal work of my HDD (partion table, filesystem and OS)?

There are a lot of bad sectors, you should clone the disk to a new empty one using ddrescue.
Once it's done, remove the original disk and use TestDisk 7.1-WIP (instead of 6.14) on the new disk.
