Why can Win 8.1 tablet access NDAS Drive ...

#1 Post by LisaKK »

I'm hoping someone will have seen this problem before and shed some light for me.

External 1tb NTFS NDAS Drive is visible and accessible from Win 8.1 tablet, both in file explorer and Win Disc Management Console. It shows as mounted in NDAS Device Management as well ... no problems evident.

However, it is showing up now as a local drive E (instead of 1 Terabyte NDAS (E:) ) when trying to access from Win 8 laptop and now RAW format in Win Disc Management. It does say it is mounted in NDAS Device Management and has the correct properties but "incorrect parameter".

If i had a large enough spare hard drive I'd salvage the data using my tablet and just reformat partition the drive etc. But I don't.

I've run TestDisk and located all drives and chose to search for partitions on the drive identified by size to no avail. I'm attaching the log which to me, seems to show info on my laptop's 500gb drive even though the screen shows i'm searching the 1tb drive.

I'm now running DeepSearch but wondering if there's a simple explanation as to why this is happening and perhaps find an easier fix.

An answer and some guidance sure would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

NDAS means Network Direct Attached Storage. Data recovery software can not work with network storage (except iSCSI)
